Men’s Fashion Trends Time to Get Smart About

Find out how to keep up with the hottest male fashion trends for the summer of 2023

All man can dream of is being a celebrity and wearing gorgeous designer clothes. In the real world, you can’t pull it off quite yet, but there are plenty of smaller designer brands to give you a style edge on the social circuit.

Think slightly unisex names like Van den Bergh, Wolford, and Raf Simons.

With summer upon us, the emphasis is on sun-kissed perfection. Men’s Summer Style: the looks that you want to Live in

The brief here is to look like a big pile of wisteria gone a bit wrong. Check your mates out in matching striped shirts and white shorts. Give them a bit of a pass, don’t be putting down total strangers.

On a more basic level, don’t leave your mother hanging while they painstakingly put together the perfect outfit. Don’t dress with such a discriminating eye as you’re too lazy.

It may sound a bit egotistical to think that I have the perfect advice to give you, but I will help you out: it is so bloody difficult not to dress smartly when the weather is like this. It’s like there’s some form of sartorial sleight of hand taking place. But what can you do if you don’t own the right things?

From classic white shirts to dashing shorts, here’s everything you need to know to look like a million bucks in the next few months.

All You Need Is a White Shirt

Accessorize with sunglasses (maybe a sun hat too), a water bottle, and running shoes and you’re sorted. Think J Crew or Urban Outfitters, not John Varvatos or River Island.

A Summer-Ready Suit

You probably already have a white suit. You don’t need anything else to wear with it. It doesn’t have to be tailored and formal to still look good.

A slim-cut, mid-weight suit with a notch lapel and classic fold will look just as good when it’s all crumpled and wonky as it would if it was tailored and perfect.

Even the bum bags are in. Long before J. Crew, the bum bag had a proper walk. We are still in love with these babies. Do remember, they’re meant to be functional, not showy.

Stripes Shirts

Classic, summery, fresh, and sharp. Why not channel early 70s retro through striped shirts? ‘Our style icons think all the clothes are too ugly to wear’ said Marc by Marc Jacobs to the New York Times in April.

Add a pair of camo shorts for a look inspired by rock n rollers and Justin Bieber.

Men Shorts

Go for distressed or bleach-washed ones, not too baggy. And no holes in them. You do not want to scare the postman.

If the weather permits, make the most of the season's southern hemisphere cousin: shorts.

Men Trend Short boots

Expect to see these at Levi’s, Barbour, Adidas, and Adidas Originals.

The Scent

You can’t go wrong with crisp cologne or a nice fresh flannel shirt. This season is all about freshness. Don’t take it too seriously. A little Vaseline will help the smell of sweat disappear on summer days.

A blue tee, denim jacket, and slick Levis and you’re good to go.

Shorts

Always. Sleeveless, short, designer, or backpack. Why mess with success? Shorts. Shorts. Shorts.

 Watches

If you want to look good then you must also have a good watch so that your look looks good.

Few more tips to keep this summer sunny:

Fake tan, fake tan, fake tan. You are dead after a few weeks.

Don’t be afraid to take a look outside of the box. No jeans, no rules.

Swim shorts. Look at what everyone is wearing and find a pair that are similar. Then add some killer flip-flops and you’re sorted.

Possibly best as a thought bubble.

Think of something that you think people will want to see you wearing in the summer. Then go for it.

If there’s one thing that sets you apart from the crowd, it’s your ears. No other earring is worth it. Go big or go home.

Stare long and hard at the ocean and ask questions that you don’t know the answer to. What if you had the perfect tan? What if you had the hair of the wind?

This summer, everything is so cute.

Please be sincere with one another. The new thing to do is to copy the crowd.
It’s not what you wear, but what you don’t wear that’s key.
